This form allows you to take part in the international tasks competition for the annual international educational campaign “Geographical Dictation”, organized by the Russian Geographical Society in 2026.
You can submit questions for the main competition as well as for the special categories below.
“Geography of Unity: Heritage and Cultural Code of the Country”
How has Russia's vast geography shaped its culture, traditions, and national identity? This category explores the connection between nature and the way of life of Russia's ethnic groups – from folk crafts to world renowned works.
“Museum Map of Russia”
Explore the geography and history of Russia as seen through museum exhibitions across the globe. This category highlights famous exhibits and unique collections, delving into the captivating stories they hold. Discover the narratives behind geographical discoveries, the exploration of different regions, and the profound ways nature and geography are reflected in collections – whether housed in Russia or scattered in museums worldwide.
“Geography of the Future: Technologies and Discoveries”
Russia's contributions to global science and technology that have advanced our understanding of Earth and space. This category covers the development of transport systems, research infrastructure, and modern digital innovations in geography – including geographic information systems, remote sensing, digital mapping, and environmental monitoring.
“Discovering Russia: The Key to Understanding”
Questions designed for an international audience. The goal is to introduce the world to Russia's key geographical, historical, and cultural distinctiveness in a clear and accessible way.
“Horizons of Geography: Expert Level”
Challenging questions for true connoisseurs. This category focuses on little-known geographical facts and specialized historical-geographic knowledge about Russia. Winning questions will be featured in "Geographic Dictation PRO," a special online version for experts.
Participants may submit up to three questions for the main competition. In addition, you may submit one question for each special category. The total maximum number of questions allowed per participant is eight.
By continuing, you agree that the Russian Geographical Society reserves the right to use your question in any lawful manner, which may include editing or adapting the text.
Please provide your full legal name and date of birth. Authors whose questions are selected by the jury and included in the Geographical Dictation – 2026, as well as the competition finalists, will receive a personalized certificate via email. The names of the winners (and runners-up, if applicable) will be published on the official Dictation website and the website of the Russian Geographical Society. Please note that authors will always be credited whenever their questions appear in the Dictation or are used to promote the event.
Results will be announced no later than August 3, 2026. Please note that the Society does not provide written or verbal explanations for its decisions regarding submissions.
Before submitting, we recommend checking that your question has not already appeared in previous Geographic Dictations (2015–2025).
Important: If the participant/author is under 18 years of age, this form must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. The guardian should provide their own personal information as well as the personal information of the minor author.
