Exactly one month remains until the start of the Geographical Dictation – 2023. Everyone can become a “straight-A student”! To do this, go to the website dictant.rgo.ru and solve geographical puzzles in an online format. The demo version is already available (in Russian). Recall that this year the Geographical Dictation will take place on November 19.

Like the main Dictation version, the demo version contains 40 questions of varying degrees of difficulty. The result will be known immediately after testing.

The demo version of the Geographical Dictation will be available until 11:00 on November 19, 2023 (Moscow time).

The Dictation tasks are devoted to geographical science, the history of geographical discoveries, the natural and ethno-cultural heritage of Russia. A number of issues are related to the Year of the Teacher and Mentor, which is celebrated in Russia in 2023.

The Dictation tasks are compiled by experts in the field of geography, but some of the questions are traditionally written by amateur authors within the framework of the contest "Write Your Question for the Geographical Dictation". Moreover, in 2023, companies and public organizations took part in the compilation of the Dictation versions.[1]

The international educational campaign "Geographical Dictation" has been held by the Russian Geographical Society on the initiative of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin since 2015. The main purpose of the Dictation is to popularize knowledge about the geography and peoples of Russia.

The Dictation is held annually. In eight years, it has been taken by more than 3 million people from 126 countries.
